About Us
In 2004, Mike and Alanna Harris, along with their youngest son, Boomer, decided to give up city living and move to the country. Mike, an attorney, and Alanna, a registered nurse, both grew up on farms in rural Lawrence County. Shortly after building their house on nine acres Alanna inherited from her parents, Mike got a phone call from a local real estate agent informing him that the sixty-six-acre farm adjoining their property was up for sale. That farm included an old pole barn, two lakes, and a 1987 double-wide three-bedroom mobile home situated on the larger of the two lakes. To make the farm even more attractive, Alanna had also inherited the fifty-six-acre farm located right behind the property for sale. So, after some thought, prayer, and financial finagling, the Harris family purchased the property that was to eventually become Piney Branch Livestock.
